WILDLIFE RESOURCES CONSERVATION


AND PROTECTION ACT

• The policy of the State to conserve
the country’s wildlife resources and
their habitats for sustainability.
The RA 9147, otherwise known as Wildlife
Resources Conservation and Protection
Act.

It is an act providing for the conservation and protection of wildlife


resources and their habitats.
• Objectives of the Law

a. to conserve the and protect wildlife and species and their


habitats.

b. to regulate collection and trade of wildlife.

c. to pursue the Philippine commitment to international


conventions, protection of wildlife and their habitat.

d. to initiate or support scientific studies on the conservation of


biological diversity.
Jointly implemented by DENR, DA, and
PCSD (Palawan Council for Sustainable Development)
DENR – responsible for terrestrial plant and animal species, all turtles and
tortoises, wetland species such as waterbirds, amphibians and dugong.

DA – responsible for aquatic habitats and resources (fishes, aquatic plant,


invertebrates, and marine mammals except dugong)

PCSD – wildlife species found in Palawan areas


Possession of Wildlife

No person are entity shall be allowed of possession of wildlife unless:

1. Proof of financial and technical capability

2. Has facilities to maintain the wildlife

3. Obtained from legal sources.


The ACT makes it unlawful to any person to:
1. Kill and destroy wildlife species.

2. Inflict injury which impairs the reproductive system of wildlife species.

3. Effect any of the following acts on critical habitats:


a. dumping of waste product detrimental to wildlife
b. mineral exploitation and extraction
c. burning, logging, quarrying
d. transporting and trading of wildlife
