Chapter 8- Going
Places
 Character- Sophie
(A delusionist)
Character Sketch
 The story revolves around a delusionist named Sophie who lives in her own fantasy. She is a dreamer who
yearns for something more than her everyday life at the biscuit factory. She uses her vivid imagination to
escape into a world of possibilities and aspirations. She belongs to a middle-class family- somewhat poor-
and still dreams of opening the best Boutique in her city. She's a pretty obstinate one too. Even though her
friend Jansie- A realist- always throws buckets at her dreams but Sophie never changes. Sophie's aspirations
are lofty, and she envisions herself being a manager who's a part- time actress and also have a special skill for
fashion designer- really a three-in-one there. Sophie's curiosity about the world beyond her immediate
surroundings is evident. She wishes to experience the vast world and seeks glimpses of it through her
interactions with Geoff- her older brother. Sophie frequently loses herself in daydreams, blurring the lines
between reality and her fantasies like when she did in case of Danny Casey. And due to such lot of
daydreaming, she's bound to be disappointed when steeps back to reality.

Reasons for which we picked this
Character
 Doesn’t fears her destiny. Even though she's already
earmarked to work at a biscuit factory, she doesn’t fears to
dream for herself.
 An complex character which uses her delusions to escape
from the mundane reality which holds her.
 Correlation with the character. We sympathize a lot
with this character because this generation is vulnerable to
so many possibilities in our vicinity and bound to
Fantasies.

Conclusion
 This chapter reminds us to have control over our own thoughts and imagination. Even when
things are not supposedly going in our way, we shouldn’t just immerse ourselves to fantasies
because such imaginations are expectations and higher are these expectations, the harder one
falls with them.
