McDonald’s

INDRODUCTION
 The founders of McDonald’s are Richard and Maurice Mcdonald.
 They opened their first restaurant in San Bernardino,California in 1940.
 However,it was Ray Kroc who later joined the company and turned it into a global franchise
empire.
 Ray Kroc is often credited as the founder of the modern-day McDonald’s corporation. he
purchased the rights to the name and concept from the McDonald brothers and expanded the
business into what it is today.

HISTORY
McDonald’s was founded in 1940 by Richard McDonald and Maurice McDonald in San
Bernardino,California.
 Originally, it was a small drive-in restaurant called “McDonald’s Bar-B-Q.”
 In 1948, the brothers restricted their business and indroduced
the concept of a streamlined menu with only nine items,
including their famous hamburgers,cheeseburgers,and fries
 Ray Kroc,a milkshake machine salesman, became involved with
with the company in 1954 and eventually purchase the right’s to franchise
McDonald’s restaurants.
 The first franchised McDonald’s opened in Des plaines,Illinos ,in 1955.

 The iconic Golden Arches logo was introduced in 1962 and has become one of the most recognizable symbols
worldwide.

 McDonald’s introduced it’s most famous sandwich , the Big Mac in 1968.

 The company expanded internationally in the late 1960s and early 1970s , opening its first restaurants in Canada,
Puerto Rico and Europe.
 In the 1980s and 1990s, McDonald’s faced criticism for its fast-food and unhealthy image, leading to
the introduction of healthier menu options like salads and fruit.

 Today, McDonald’s is one of the largest fast-food chains globally, with over 37,000 locations in more
than 100 countries , serving millions of customers every day.
ENTRY OVER INDIAN MARKET
“you can never peneterate the Indian market without making an effort to understand the
country’s culture and mindset”.

Although ‘fast food’ is ingrained in the culinary culture of india, the passage of time has not
really resulted in any sort of evolution in the manner in which our traditional fast-food are
prepared or served. It’s still very much a ‘cottage industry’ with street vendors accounting
for almost all the sales.One cannot imagine a day when the street-side ‘vada pav’ ,‘chaat’ or
‘sendvitch’ stall in our cities will disappear . It’s such an integral part of who we were as
Indians.
PRODUCTS
The main products of McDonald’s include hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken
sandwiches , French fries , chicken nuggets, salads , wraps , breakfast items( such as
McMuffins and McGriddles), desserts (such as apple pies and ice cream sundaes), and
beverages ( including soft drinks, coffee, and milkshakes).
