simple device for culturing a large diversity of microorganisms . It is invented by Sergei Winogradsky in the 1880’s. Why we need to make this column ? We made the simple model of wenogredsky column to understand the relationship among microbes . How they live and work together ? Do they help each other ? Do they compete with each other? Our findings- In our model we find that ‘Microbes live and work together , they arrange and fit into different niches within the column according to their needs. Example – some microbes produce oxygen and some microbes need it. The occurrence of different types of microbes in the column proves that microbes help each other in surviving . example – some microbes live in aerobic condition while some in anaerobic conditions. So we can conclude that microbes help each other so that they all can survive.
