 Rajasthanis one of the richest state in terms of availability and variety of minerals in India. The State has deposits of
81 different types of major and minor minerals. Out of these, 57 minerals are being currently mined
 Rajasthan is the sole producer of:
› Lead & Zinc ores,
› Selenite
 Wollastonite
 Rajasthan is leading producer of:
› Silver
› Calcite
› Gypsum
› Ball Clay
› Feldspar
› Fire Clay
› Silver
› Rock Phospate
› Steatite
› Red Ochre
› Steel & Cement grade limestone
 It also has prominent position in the country in the production of dimensional and decorative stones, such as marble,
sandstone, granite etc.
 70% of Boone-China tableware is produced in Rajasthan.
 There are 176 mining leases for major minerals, 14,982 mining leases for minor mineral and 17,481 quarry licenses

MINERAL RESOURCES
FOUND IN ASSAM
 Assam, situated in the north-eastern region of India. Assam is a landfull
of mineral resources.Assam is rich in mineral resources which are
providing raw materials to industries. The important mineral resources
of Assam are petroleum, coal, natural gas and lime stone. Coal fields
are at Nazira, Makum, Margharita, Ledo, among others Crude oil is the
most important mineral product of Assam oil deposits are in
Naharkatiya, Moran, Lanka, Nazira, among others Oil refineries are
established at Digboi, Noonmati and Bangaigaon and other at
Numaligarh. The natural gas from the oil fields is another important
resource of Assam. But only a small amount of natural gas in utilized in
Assam and the rest is wasted lime stone which is used as raw materials
for cement is found at Garampani and Koilajan among others.
