GEOPOLYMER

CONCRETE
WHATS GEOPOLYMER CONCRETE ?

● These are the binding products made by recycling industrial waste or by-
products.

● In geopolymer concrete binding of material is done by alkaline materials.

what’s an alkaline?
● They are combinations of sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate .

● They are the reason for a strong bond.

GEOPOLYMERS ARE SYNTHESIZED
FROM THE FOLLOWING:-
● 1) By alkaline activation

● 2) Raw materials :

 ALUMINOSILICATE.

 ALKALINE ACTIVATORS (HYDROXIDE OR

SILICATES OF N AND K).
INGREDIANTS
● 1) Fly ash
Fly ash, also known as flue ash, coal ash, or pulverised fuel ash, is a coal combustion product composed of fine
particles of burned fuel that are driven out of coal-fired boilers together with the flue gases. It has been recognized as a soil
ameliorator throughout the world, containing essential plant micro- and macronutrients and unique physicochemical properties. However,
it also contains hazardous substances such as metal(loid)s, organic pollutants, and radioactive elements.

● 2) Aggregate
Aggregates can be produced using raw materials such as sand, gravel, or crushed stone, or recycled demolition waste
such as concrete and bricks. They are used for a variety of construction purposes, including road surfacing, building foundations.

● 3) Sodium hydroxide

NaOH

● 4) Sodium silicate
Na2SiO3
ADVANTAGES:-

● High compressing strength.

● Lower shrinkage.

● Rapid strength gain.

● Less pore structure.

● Greater corrosion resistance.

● Substantially high fire resistance.

● Green house reduction upto 90% as compared to opc.

DISADVANTAGES:-

● It requires oven curing .

● Surprisingly there isn’t enough waste material or factory by-

product enough to meet the global consumption of cement .
