Laser Cut

By Kate Owens
Design Brief
& Criteria for
Success
Design Brief
This task asks us to produce a set of engineering drawings for company
Arrow Engineering. This company is asking for a laser Cut Flat Pack
Furniture Item, due by the end of the first school term in 2023. They
have asked for this t be completed via Inventor and be made into a
miniature version via a laser cutter. They have asked for this to prove
our skills with Inventor before working with us any further.
Criteria for Success
To be successful in this task, we must complete a full set of engineering
drawings including an Orthographic Projection, and Open-In-Line for
Assembly drawing, Individual parts, and a Rendered Pictural. Some
other specifications for this task include needing to be a flat pack and
must use a minimum for 10 parts in the final design. The flat pack must
also need no glue and use inter-locking joint to stay together.

Evaluation
Evaluation
As stated before the criteria for success includes a full set of engineering
drawings, being a flat pack, having a minimum of 10 parts and using
inter-locking joints. My final design does use more than t10 part and is a
flat pack. The final design does differ slightly when using inter-locking
joint. While most of my design would require no glue, the framing
would require glue to stay to the backboard, other wise it would easily
come of off the rest of the design. Apart from the frame, I believe my
solution to the design problem works quite well.
Recommendations
To improve my design I would add a joint to the frame so that it can
stay attached to the backboard without having to use glue. I would also
make at stand so you could have it displayed on a desk or shelf or hang
it up o a wall.
