Speaking is an interactive process of constructing

meaning that involves producing and receiving and


processing information. (Brown, 1994; Burns and Joyce,
1997).
SPEAKING SKILL

- the ability to speak confidently and fluently


- the skill that allows us to communicate effectively
- the ability to convey information verbally and in a way that the
listener can understand

Vocabulary
“ To develop our speaking skills we first need to know the right words.”

- Vocabulary development is where students understand the meanings


and pronunciations of words necessary for communication.
- Remember, when they understand what a word means, they can
check what the word or sentence means.
Grammar
• Helps understand tenses and the correct way to structure sentences
• Helps us to convey information in a way that the listener will
recognize and understand.
Pronunciation
- understanding how to correctly pronounce/ utter a word

- involves understanding the small units that make up a spoken


language

- phonemic awareness
Fluency
- the ability to hear words and understand them straight
