Chapter 2

The SHAPE
(Continuation)
Applying Our Abilities

AIl of us have different abilities. Nobody

can be exactly like us. Although others may
imitate some of our traits and actions, no one
can be exactly the same as us. No one has the
same mix of factors that make a person unique.
What is your ability?
• Man's abilities are the natural talents the one is born
with.
• Some people have a natural ability with words.
• Others were gifted with mathematical abilities.
• Other people have natural athletic abilities who bore an
excellent physical condition.
• Others have great musical talents or high technical
abilities.
• There are people who even have dozens or even
hundreds of untapped, unrecognized, and unused
abilities that are lying dormant inside a person.
• We may not discover yet our hidden talents.
• In this regard, there is a need for us to make an
assessment in order to discover the hidden talents
in us.
Man as a Superior Being
• Many studies have revealed that the average person possesses
from 500 to 700 different skills and abilities far more than one
realizes.
• Human brain has the capability of storing 100 facts.
• The human mind can handle 15,000 decisions a second.
• Man's nose can smell up to 10,000 different odors.
• Our sense of touch can detect an item 1.25,000th of an inch
thick and our tongue can taste one part of quinine in 2 million
parts of water.
• However, although we have superior capabilities,
it is still important that we have to know our
specific abilities so as to become a more effective
human person.
• The recognition of our ability can make us a wise
person. To use these abilities in order to be of
service to others will make us even wiser.
• As we try to examine our abilities, we should also
be able to know our limitations so that we will be
able to know what to avoid or what not to do.
• Every one of us should seriously examine where
we are good at and where we are not good at.
• We have to realize that there is always something
good in anyone of us.
I AM SPECIAL
I am special.
In the entire world, there's nobody like me.
Since the beginning of time, there has never been
another person like me.
Nobody has my smile. Nobody has my eyes, my
nose, my hair, my voice.
I am special.
No one can be found who has my handwriting.
Nobody has my taste-for food or music or art.
No one sees things just as I do.
In all time, there's been no one who laughs like me,
no one who cries like me.
And what makes me laugh or cry will never provoke identical
laughter and
tears from anybody else, ever.
No one reacts in every situation just as I would react.
I am special.
I am the only one in all of creation who has my set of abilities.
Oh, there will always be someone who is better at one of the
things I am good at,
but no one in the universe can reach the quality of my combination
of talents, ideas, abilities, and feelings.
Like a room full of instruments, some may excel alone, but none
can match
the symphony sound when all are played together.
I am a symphony.
Through all the eternity no one will ever look, talk, walk, think,
or do like me.
I am rare.
And in rarity, there is a great value.
Because of my great rare value, I need not attempt to
imitate others.
I will accept-yes, to celebrate my differences.
I am special and I am beginning to realize it's no accident
that I am special.
I'm beginning to see that God made me special
for a very special purpose.
He must have a job for me that no one can do as well as
me.
Out of all the billions of applicants, only one is qualified
only one has the combination of what it takes
That one is me....
Because

I AM SPECIAL
Personality
• For instance, look at the person who is seated beside you
right now. Try also to look at all the persons inside the
room where you are at right now. What will definitely be
noticeable is the fact that nobody looks the same.
• If ever that we will be able to find somebody who may
have a resemblance to us, we will find out that still, we
are different.
• God created each human person with a unique
combination of personality traits.
• One's personality will affect how and where one
use spiritual gifts and abilities.
• Any person can can learn from the examples of
others. However, we must filter what we learn
through our own SHAPE.
BE WISE.
We have a personality that we alone possess.
We are designed for a special purpose.
Employing One's Experiences

• Psychology would say that man is a product of his

nature and his nurture.
• All of us are mere products of our heredity and
environment.
• We are shaped by our own experiences in life.
• Most of our experiences were beyond our control.
"Experience is not what
happens to you.
It is what you do with
what happens to you."
…our future lies in our
hands because we are
the author of our life.
There are 6 important experiences that can help a human
person realize his value.
1. Family experiences
2. Educational experiences
3. Spiritual experiences
4. Boyfriend/ Girlfriend experiences
5. Friend experiences
6. Painful experiences
Family Experiences
As regards our personal experiences with our family,
the question will be:
What did we learn when we are growing up with our
family?
The greater the love that one receives in the family,
the higher the possibility that we will be able to
learn to love the others as well.
Educational Experiences

In this experience, our question will be:

"What is the most unforgettable experience that we had in
our school?"
We may never be able to realize it now since we are yet
in our educational institution. But later on in our life, we
will eventually realize that there is value in the said
painful experience.
Spiritual Experiences
In this experience, we can ask the question:
What has been our most meaningful time with
God?
In the first place, have we had already a
moment with God? Spiritual experiences can
oftentimes happen if we are in the down
moments of our life.
Boyfriend / Girlfriend Experiences

The question that can be asked here is:

Have we been in love?
Have we already experienced kilig
moments?
Our BF/GF experiences can both be painful or
wonderful.
Friend Experiences

We can ask here the question:

What are our crazy experiences with our friends
which we will cherish for the rest of our life?
Whenever we would be able to recall such
moments, we would oftentimes desire to go back
to the past and cherish such a moment.
Painful Experiences

Here, we can ask:

What problems, hurts, thorns, and trials have
we learned from our other experiences?
Painful experiences may be coming from
family experience, BF/GF experiences.
The question that we can ask all throughout our
life will be:
What are we going to do with what we have
gone through?
How are we going to cherish the painful
memories and how can we continuously savor
the happy moments?
If processed well,
pains and sufferings can develop us into
becoming a
WOUNDED HEALER.
BE WISE. Share your experiences.
Learn from your experiences.
Let others learn from it too.

Remember: The lesson about the SHAPE is to prepare

us to become of SERVICE to others.
