ABSTRACT
The sharp increase in the amount of waste in terms of food,
clothes, books, etc. makes the need for charity. This paper
presents ‘Generous- A giveaway charity app’, a new internet-
based application that provides a platform for donating items
people no longer need, old stuff, leftover food etc. to all needy
people/organizations. It provides information about the
motivation to come up with such an application, thereby
describing the existing donation/charity system and how the
proposed product works for the betterment of society. The
product is shown to be an effective means of donating/giving
away things directly to the people in need or to the various
organizations, etc. over the internet. It shows the potential for
avoiding the wastage of food, clothes, books and other stuff.
Problem Description
World is continuously changing and with that
our tastes and preferences due to which a lot of
stuff gets wasted. Currently, people donate
stuff manually to poor/needy people or by
visiting each organization a number of times
but this does not solve the problem completely
as it takes a lot of time and still the reach
remains limited.
Analysis of Existing Systems
In order to reduce the problems of food wastage, some
websites have taken efforts to help people donate their
surplus food to shelters through their official website,
wherein people can donate food, donate funds and also
volunteer for various activities while some has taken the
initiative to give away leftover food in Dabbas to hungry
street children, using just a tiny sticker and the
extensive Dabbawala network. But these websites are only
limited to the donation of food and funds.

• Our Initiative Is Beyond That

Solution Proposed
Generous – A Step Towards Humanity.

“Encouraging people to understand this planet as our common home”.

A platform for donating items people no longer need.
This initiative not only covers the food donation but also the clothes, books, household items
and many more. The initiative is a joint effort not to waste those things which we can
donate to needy people. It’s a giveaway app through which a user can donate or give away
his/her items that are no longer in use to someone who actually needs them. It also includes
a food donation system where the restaurants will be able to find suitable charities in their
local areas to donate their excess food every day. This will not only save a lot of food and the
items that otherwise goes to waste but also it will help lots of poor and needy people.

Anyone can be a Donor and anyone can seek for the Donation.
FEATURES
• The proposed Project is a web application requiring internet connection and will provide a platform
for donors and seekers after they successfully register into the system.
• If a user wishes to donate something, he/she can upload that with details in the application.
• That post will be shown as a notification in the donations tab to other users.
• That post will be stored in the backend database.
• Once a notification is sent, the orphanages or needy people who wish to claim the donations can
reply to the donor and contact him/her.
• The user interface of this system will be simple and user-friendly, and the targeted system is web
based.
• At present, we are aiming to avoid the major wastage that usually happens in India . We are
looking and expecting to update and refine the same which will add up to efficiency and utility of
the application including books, stationary, clothes, etc. Also the application will be beneficial if
donors and seekers are located near each other.
• The Donor performs operations like Registration and Login into the System. He can also put up
items for donation and view all donation requests (items required by people/organizations).
• The Admin can also monitor and update the database.
• The Receiver can also perform operations like requesting for items, viewing requested items and
claiming donations.
