Brain museum task

IB PSYCHOLOGY SL/HL

Teacher: Mr. Leslie

How do we study the brain
Task 3: Brain museum
Information from this activity can lay the foundation for
the options – but it also addresses the question of
“localization of function.”

Task 3: Brain museum

Students will choose their part of the brain to study and

design a poster that would be both visual and
interactive. Students will display their finished products
around the classroom, and as in a real museum, they
can walk around the classroom and look at the posters.
Students will write questions and comments in
response to the posters that they are seeing.

One fun twist to the ‘Brain museum project’: Your

presentation should be an ‘advertisement’ for your part
of the brain and should include the following:

1. Why is your part of the brain the best?

2. What would we be like if this part of the brain didn’t

exist? (Why can’t you live without this part of the
brain?)

I usually don’t give my students links so that they can

work on developing their own research skills, but below
are several sources that can help you get started on this
