PROPOSAL
WHAT IS A
BUSINESS
PROPOSAL?
A business proposal is
sent from a supplier to
a potential client to
win a specific project.
It is a written
document and it can
either be requested by
the client or sent
unsolicited.
Many service-based
small businesses rely
on proposals in order to
sell their services and
bring in new work.
What is the purpose
of a Business
Proposal?
The purpose of the
business proposal is to
attract clients or secure
support from possible
investors or
organizations.
Why do we need to
write a Business
Proposal?
Because there are
numerous competing
companies nowadays,
you must produce a
well-written proposal
so that you will have an
edge over the others.
What do I need to
know in order for me
to write a convincing
Business Proposal?
You need to know and
understand your target
client in developing a
proposal that has a…
sound methodology
a viable solution to the
problem that the
company is facing
a realistic schedule
and a reasonable and
justifiable budget.
May I know how to
write a good and
convincing Business
Proposal?
A good proposal cannot
be prepared overnight.
If you are targeting a
client, research about it
exhaustively.
First, know how it
operates.
Design a method by
which you can outshine
other competitors who
also wish to submit a
proposal on the same
ground.
Note that some
prospective clients you
meet in the course of
your career
may suddenly request
for a proposal to be
prepared and submitted
within short notice.
Moreover, a business
proposal generally have
three major parts
The first major part of a
business proposal is the
problem statement.
What is a problem
statement, by the
way?
A problem statement is
a short, clear
explanation of an issue
or challenge that sums
up what you want to
change.
It helps you, your team
members, and other
stakeholders to focus
on the problem, why
it’s important, and who
it impacts.
The second major part
of a business proposal
is the “proposed
solution”
The “proposed
solution” explains how
you can address or
resolve the concerns
troubling the client.
A “proposed solution
should…
 Offer a sound method to
address the problem.
 Provide a step-by-step
procedure to carry out
the plan effectively.
Make sure that your
timetable is
REALISTIC!
Always remember that
it is not a good idea to
impress only your
target client without
meeting and delivering
their expectations.
Lastly, the third major
part of a business
proposal is the
“costing”
You or your company
should state the price.
Payment may be one-
time or on a staggered
basis depending on the
project.
Finally, your business
proposal should be
complete with the basic
information.
Your business proposal
should have:
 Title Page
 Company Name
 Date

future, for tomorrow belongs to those
who prepare for it today.”
