1. Whole Note/Rest: A whole
note/rest receives four beats.

2. Half Note/Rest: A half note/rest


receives 2 beats.
3. Quarter Note/Rest: A whole
note/rest receives one beat.

4. Eight Note/Rest: An eighth


note/rest gets half a beat. They
are counted as 1-and, 2-and, 3-
and, 4-and.
5.16th Note: Gets one-fourth of a
beat.

6. Dotted Note/Rest : A dotted note adds


half of its original value.
For example, a dotted quarter note is
equals a quarter note plus an eighth note,
making it one and a half beats.
