CLAMAV ON DEBIAN

 DEFINITION OF CLAMAV
• ClasmAV is an open source antivirus for detecting trojans, viruses,
malware and other attacks. ClamAV is an open source standard for mail
gateway scanning software. ClamAv includes a multi-threaded scanner
daemon and a command line for scanning and updating automatically.
ClamAV supports many file formats as well as various compressed files.
ClamAV can run on Linux, Windows, or Mac.
 THE PROCESSES PROVIDED BY CLAMAV
• ClamAV library
• Clamscan
• Freshclam
• Freshclam program will update the virus database. This freshclam program will download main.cvd,
daily.cvd and bytecode.cvd .
• Clamd
• Clamdscan
• Clamconf
• Script for start clamd and freshclam in daemon mode.
 THE FIRST STEP TO INSTALL DEBIAN
• Make sure it is connected to the internet “ping google.com” “ping 8.8.8.8”
 SECOND STEP
• Install Clamav using command “apt-get install clamav” and then press “Y” enter
 THIRD STEP
• Check ClamAV status using command “/etc/init.d/clamav-freshclam status”
