The Pressure on the Soul

What do you desire?
• Desire by is what you want earnestly;
what you long for, crave for, pant after,
thirst for or lust after whether secretly
or openly.
• Truth is constant and denial does not
change the truth.
– There are times when we deny our longings to
ourselves or others but it does not change the
truth.
• Have you come to terms with the truth
of your life? 9
Your Desire is your Will
• It is often said that where there is a will
there is a way i.e. you eventually get
what you will for. But do you really
know what that will is?
• Why is it said that where there is a will
there is a way? It is because your will
shuts other things out of your mind i.e.
your will dominates your thought.
10
Your Desire is your Will 2
• It influences your actions. It is the
benchmark you set for yourself to
measure success or failure regardless of
what others think or say.
• It is often an indication of what or who
you believe even silently.
• The devil through the world tries to
shape that will.
• The world influences our will through
our senses whether voluntarily or
otherwise. 11
Your Desire could be killing or giving life
• Proverbs 16:25 (NKJV) There is a way
that seems right to a man, But its end is
the way of death.
• John 10:10 (NKJV) The thief does not
come except to steal, and to kill, and to
destroy. I have come that they may have
life, and that they may have it more
abundantly.
• Simplicity of desire gives peace but its
complication deprives one of peace.

Simplicity of heart or complicated life?
• The early church ate their food with
gladness and simplicity of heart, cf. Acts.
2:46
• When we desire God above all things
we shall live a simple life in the midst of
the complex world we find ourselves
and thus enjoy peace
• This also means that we align our will
with His will for our lives.
• A loving child prefer his/her father to
whatever you may offer him/her 14
