Stiffness, swelling and limited motion in
affected joints
Affected joint: warm to touch, tender, painful
Joint stiffness on arising in AM and after
inactivity
Uveitis
Inflammation of structures in the uveal tract
Can cause blindness

INTERVENTIONS:
Facilitate social and emotional development
Instruct parents and child on administration of
medication
ROM
Encourage performance of normal ADL
Hot and cold packs
Splinting and Positioning of affected joints
during painful episodes

Emphasis importance of eye care

NSAIDS
May cause GI irritation and bruising
Methotrexate
Monitor CBC and liver function

Potent immunosuppressives for life-threatening
complications, incapacitating arthritis, uveitis
Prolonged used may cause:
Cushing’s syndrome
Risk for infection
Glucose intolerance,
Cataract
Growth suppression
