Hyperextension Type
• A compression fr. of the anterior
tibial plateau characterized by a
reduced/reversed pTSA.

• Type 1  pure depression


• Type 2  cleavage extending to posterior
cortex with no displacement
• Type 3  cleavage extending to posterior
cortex with significant displacement
Discussion
• Firoozabadi et al reported radiographic hallmarks of this pattern:
(1) Sagital plane malalignment with loss of the normal posterior slope
of the tibial plateau
(2) Tension failure of the posterior cortex
(3) Compression of the anterior cortex
(4) Varus deformity in the coronal plan
