CHAPTER-
3
Introduction
The proposed application provides accessible and inclusive learning materials for both general
students and blind students. The application offers audio and text books that can be accessed
through talkback and ASR system Blind users can use the TTS system to listen to the text books.
The application provides additional commands such as read, pause, repeat, and bookmark to
facilitate the learning experience of blind users. The primary goal of the application is to address
the challenges faced by blind individuals when accessing learning materials, particularly print-
based resources. TTS and ASR systems provide a way for blind users to access and interact with
text-based content. The inclusion of additional commands such as repeat and bookmark allows
blind users to revisit critical information and improve their overall learning experience. The
application can also benefit general students who prefer audio over text-based learning materials.
Problem Statement
Blind people face difficulties in accessing free audio books quickly and efficiently.
Moreover, they find it challenging to search, read, pause, repeat, and bookmark the
text or book while learning. Scrolling can also be a problem for many of them.
Therefore, there is a need for a user-friendly digital platform that can provide easy
access to audio books and facilitate interaction for blind people. And as for general
students, not everyone has access to educational books. And it can be tough to find
the books in library of their institute while studying for exams, as the libraries have
limited amount.
Objectives
• To develop a digital platform that can provide easy and seamless access to free audio and
digital textbooks for all students, including those with visual impairments, and to improve the
accessibility of digital books through the use of assistive technologies and features.
• To implement an intuitive and user-friendly talkback and ASR system that will facilitate the
use of the platform by visually impaired students, and to provide additional audio and voice
commands that will enable them to interact with the platform easily and efficiently.

METHODOLOGY
This section presents the methodology adopted for the development of the application that
provides access to educational resources for blind students. The methodology outlines the
steps and procedures undertaken to address the challenges faced by blind students in
accessing educational materials and presents the approach taken to develop an inclusive
and user-friendly application.
The research focuses on designing and developing an application that leverages Text-to-
