SAFETY FIRST:
• Keep your distance:
– 330 ft (100 m) on front & back
– 100 ft (30 m) sides
SAFETY FIRST:
• LAYOUT BOOM rotation tower must be in VERTICAL
position at all times
• When not in use, place the LAYOUT BOOM in “STORAGE”
position and turn power switch on the control box to “OFF”.
SAFETY FIRST:

• Use ONLY to handle cable. This is NOT a crane.

SAFETY FIRST:
• DRUMS.
– Block drums as required before “walking away”. Round drums
must ALWAYS be blocked.
INTRODUCTION.
There are two parts to this attachment :

 Cable Reeler. Just like the name implies, the Cable

Reeler picks up drums and will spool cable out or in.
 Layout Boom. Now that the cable is on the road or the
burm, the Layout Boom facilitates in placing the cable
on the burm or picking it back up off the burm.
Controls.
The control box is mounted on the right hand side of the
operator.

 POWER to CABLE REELER & LAYOUT BOOM is OFF

when the indicator light is OFF.
Cable Reeler:
• The drums are easily picked up and or removed from the
reeler with only ONE drum being handled at a time.

• To spool the cable out, remove the connector from its storage
location and place it in the ground in front of the drum. Travel in
reverse as you spool the cable out. Take care to match the driving
speed to minimize cable tension and bunching.
• Do the opposite to spool the cable in.
Layout Boom:
• Placing cable on the burm. You will be traveling forward,
placing the cable to the left. With the cable laid out in front
of the machine, pick up the end of the cable with the grapple
(roller facing the machine) and swing it to the left hand side
of the machine and place it on the burm.

With a few meters of cable placed on the burm to act as an anchor,

loosen the grip on the cable, and with the boom extended to the
left, travel forward “snaking” the cable from the road to the burm.
Layout Boom:

• Retrieving the cable from the burm. The burm will be on

your left as you travel forward. Pick up the end of the cable
and lift / swing / travel forward and bunch some cable in front
of the machine. Place the connector on the drum and spool
cable to start the process. Loosely hold the cable in the
grapple (with rollers facing to the left), lift and extend the
boom. Travel forward “snaking” the cable from the burm to
the drum as you spool the cable to the drum. Match the
travel speed to the drum speed to prevent the cable from
bunching in front of the machine.

we all want to be first to

the old saying
goes….”the only
difference between men
and boys is the price of
their toys”.
