 1. What is Seven Segment Display

• Seven segment display comprises seven LEDs and a LED

for decimal point.
• Lit them in order, can forms different letters and
alphabets.
• Seven segment display is special for displaying numerical
characters.

As in it’s name ( Seven Segment Display )

It uses seven individual LED to indicate the

segment High or Low state.

reasons:

• Require small space and hardware.

• It is simple to interface.
• Can be seen from long distance.
• Versatile to display alphabets up to some extent.
