My Culture

SIGN OF THE CROSS

-Many Catholics make the “sign of


the cross” when passing by any
Catholic Church, from a cathedral to
a local parish and chapel.

-In our barangay especially those


people devoted in catholic church is
every catholic church that we
passing by we must done sign of the
cross because ids symbolize that the
holy spirit will guide us wherever we
go and keep away from evil.
BOODLE FIGHT

 -is a meal that dispenses with cutlery and dishes. Dishes instead practice
kamayan, Filipino for “eating with hands”.

 -In every member of family that is going in a place were far away from us we
always do boodle fights because it is our way of celebrating a farewell.
FIESTA CELEBRATION

 -Fiesta is religious celebration by the Roman Catholic people in honor of a


saint. That, festivities mostly coincide with the with day of the patron saint of a
particular place. Fiesta is also special time with friends, reunions, fellowships,
alumnis, unification of every family member, foods and los of activities.
FLOWER LOVERS

 -A person who loves flowers.

 -In our place where I live even if is too early in the morning they always busy
collecting flowers from our neighbors and others are busy also to watering their
flowers.
HELPING SOMEONE WHO’S GRIEVING

 -When someone is
dead they willing to
help by helping on
preparing the place and
helping to prepare and
serving coffee to those
people spending their
night playing cards.
They donate always
some rice and coffee
for a family who are
grieving.
CHILDREN ALWAYS PLAY A FILIPINO
GAMES

-Play is the work of children.
It consist those activities
performed for self-
amusement that have
behavioral, social, and
psychomotor rewards. It is
child directed, and the
reward come from within
the individual child; it is
enjoyable and
spontaneous.

 -In my culture the children


were playing traditional
games every afternoon. The
place where we dried our
rice is the same plays
where they children playing.
ATTENDING NIGHT MASS EVERY
CHRISTMAS
 -In many Western Christian
traditions Midnight Mass is the
first liturgy of Christmastide
that is celebrated on the night
of Christmas Eve, traditionally
beginning at midnight when
Christmas Eve gives way to
Christmas Day

 In my culture most people in


our place some of them
attending mass because their
was a food to serve after. But
the others are attending whole
heartedly, and believing of the
saying that if you complete
attending night mass in 10
night your wish and prayed for
were come true.
DON’T SWEEP THE FLOOR

 -If relatives sweep the floor, it


can be interpreted as
banishing the spirit of the
dead from the hose. It may
also result in other family
members following the dead
into the afterlife. Family
members can pick trash up
and wipe the floor with a wet
cloth.

 -It is also forbidden in our


culture to sweep the floor
during burial of the dead
person because it also give a
bad luck of the family and
gives many bad incident in
the future.
SHOWING RESPECT TO THE OLDERS

 -Is way of treating or


thinking about
something or someone.
People respect others
who are impressive for
any reason, such as
being in authority like a
teacher or cop or being
older, like a
grandparent.

 -In my culture our way


of showing respect is
through hand gesture
called “mano po”.
