Location and History of Bulgaria


Bulgaria is located in the west of the Balkans, between Romania and Turkey.
Pre-Bulgarians
The first inhabitants of Bulgaria were Thracians. In AD, the country first came under
the rule of the Roman Empire and then the Byzantine Empire. It was founded in the
north of the Balkan Mountains by Khan Asparuh in 681 in the 6th century AD. The
On Ogurs, a tribe of Turkish origin, settled in this area along with the Slavs. [citation
needed] The Bulgarians, who formed the aristocratic layer, after a while became
Slavic and adopted their language, and from the 10th century onwards, they adopted
Orthodoxy and converted to their religion. They left and assimilated.

Immigration
• Bulgaria was established as a fully independent tsardom in 1908.
• Especially in the 1980s, Bulgaria put pressure on the Turkish minority in
the country and forced them to become Bulgarian citizens.
• The country paid a heavy price for this with the migration of half a million
Turks to Turkey in 1989, which dealt a heavy blow to the Bulgarian
economy.
Language of Bulgaria
• The official language of Bulgaria is Bulgarian.
• Bulgarian is a language from the Indo-European language family, related
to the South Slavic languages. It is the official language of Bulgaria.

• Written language IX. Bulgarian, which began to form in the 19th century,
is written using the Cyrillic alphabet, which was created in 862 by Saint
Cyril of Thessalonica and his brother Methodius in the town of Preslav,
Bulgaria[1]. Most of the letters are inspired by the Greek alphabet.
