INTRODUCTION
• Transportation is an essential facet of modern society, serving as the
lifeblood of economic activity and the connective tissue that binds
communities together.
• It encompasses the movement of people, goods, and information from one
place to another, facilitating trade, travel, and communication on a global
scale.
• The evolution of transportation has played a pivotal role in shaping the
course of human history, enabling exploration, trade, and the exchange of
ideas.
Purpose of this presentation

• Basically to aware all of you that how

transportation and its usage, affect how
deeply to our environment.
• And to check whether after knowing this
how many of us implement this in our
day to day travel or weekly travel.
• And the choices we make regarding
transportation impact our daily lives, the
environment, and the global economy.
Importance of Transportation

• Transportation is a cornerstone of modern

society and the global economy, with far-
reaching implications for economic
development, social connectivity,
environmental sustainability, and the overall
quality of life.
• Its importance underscores the need for
thoughtful planning, investment, and innovation
to address the challenges and opportunities
associated with transportation system.

Environmental Impacts:-
• Greenhouse gas emission
• Air pollution
• Habitat destruction
• Noise pollution
• Oil spills
• Water pollution
And many more…..
Greenhouse gas emission
• Transportation is a significant contributor
to global greenhouse gas (GHG) emission.
GHGs such as carbon dioxide (CO2),
methane (CH4),and nitrous oxide (NO2),
tap heat in the earth’s atmosphere and lead
to global warming and climate change. The
transportation sector encompasses various
modes of moving people and goods,
including road vehicles, aviation, etc.

Air Quality
Transportation affects air quality in cities
through vehicle emissions, traffic congestion,
and urban planning. Vehicle emissions release
pollutants like particulate matter, nitrogen
oxides, and volatile organic compound, which
can harm air quality. Congestion leads to
more idling and emissions, while public
transportation and active modes reduce car
use and emissions.
Solutions and alternatives
• Electric vehicles(EVs):- Electric vehicles are becoming
increasingly popular due to their low carbon footprint
and energy efficiency.
• Public transit:- public transit systems are a sustainable
and efficient way to move large number of people in
urban areas.
• Biking :- biking is an eco friendly and healthy mode of
transportation that is gaining popularity in many cities.
• Walking :- walking is one of the most sustainable
transportation modes available, especially for short trips.
Technological Advancements
• Reduced greenhouse gas emission :-
1. Electric Cars:- EVs produce zero tailpipe
emissions and produce less greenhouse gases as compared to
traditional gasoline or diesel vehicles.
• Safer driving:-
1. Autonomous vehicles :- advanced safety features
in autonomous vehicles can reduce accident caused by human
error, such as distracted driving and speeding.
• Noise Pollution Reduction :-
1. EVs :- EVs are quieter than traditional vehicles
because they lack the noise associated with internal
combustion engines.
