Edith L. Tiempo, - poet, fictionist, teacher and literary critic was one of
the finest Filipino writers in English whose works are characterized by a
remarkable fusion of style and substance, of craftsmanship and insight.
She was born on April 22, 1919 in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.
All that I love
I fold over once
And once again

Or a slit in a hollow post
downTo a cupped hand’s size.

All that I love? Till seashells are broken piecesFrom God’s


Why, yes but for the moment- own bright teeth,All life and love are
realThings you can run andBreathless
And for all time, both.
hand overTo the merest chid.
Something that folds and keeps
easy,
Son’s note, or Dad’s one gaudy tie,
A roto picture of a young queen
A blue Indian shawl, even
A money bill.

WHO IS THE SPEAKER: ROLANDO CARBONNEL


Dr. Rolando A. Carbonell was born on October 23,
1946. He died on December 15, 2009 at age 63. We know that
Rolando Carbonell had been residing in Calexico, Imperial
County, California 92231.
- He was a poet, an author and an educator.
Beyond Forgetting a moment I thought I I have wanted to be alone. I thought I could make
could forget you.For a moment I thought I myself forget you In silence and in song… And yet
could still the restlessness in my heart.I I remembered.For who could forget the memory
though the past could no longer haunt me of the once lovely, the once beautiful, the once
nor hurt me.How wrong I was!For the happy world such as ours?I came because the
past, no matter how distant, is as much a song that I kept through the years is waiting to be
