ETHICS THROUGH THICK AND

THIN, AND ETHICS AND

RELIGION
THE HEALING POWER OF
FORGIVENESS

Let us remember that we need to forgive to be forgiven. In

the words of one of my favorite hymns, “Oh, forgive as
thou wouldst be e’en forgiven now by me.” Will all my
heart and soul, I believe in the healing power that can
come to us as we follow the counsel of the Savior “to
forgive all men.” In the name of Jesus Christ.
THE CHALLENGES OF PLURALISM AND
FUNDAMENTALISM:
THE SEARCH FOR UNIVERSAL VALUES

What is Pluralism?
Pluralism is the diversity of opinions, views, principles or stands rather
than a single approach or method. This may refer to politics and law,
religion, economics, and others.

Ethical fundamentalism is when an individual looks for outside sources

to make the decision of what is ethical and unethical.

Globalization has spawned more active transnational religious

communities, creating a powerful force in world affairs. ... In this
volume, leading scholars from a variety of disciplines examine how the
forces of religious pluralism and globalization are playing out on the
world stage.
ETHICS AND GENERATION Z

Is the future of Workplace Ethics at Risk?

Work ethic is a concept based on the idea that different values
influence how people approach their work. The more that companies
match their employees’ requirements, the more their staff is satisfied,
happy, motivated to do their job, and eager to go beyond
expectations. The values your workers are prioritizing are related to
all aspects of your organization. For instance, your workplace culture
has to match their values, employee benefits have to fulfill their
expectations and your leadership style also has to meet their needs.
This is especially true when talking about Gen Z’s work ethics and
values.

THE ROLE OF RELIGION IN ETHICS
IN RESPONSE TO NEW CHALLENGES

-Filipinos are known to be the most religious people in the region.

They make religion as part of their culture. The new challenges of
today’s religion are fundamentalism and pluralism. Filipinos show
different responses to it in search of universal values.
-No one can make ethical decisions without considering the social
and cultural context. Each of us evaluates human reality using a set
of moral criteria that we have embraced and altered depending on
characteristics such as nationality, education, social class,
professional occupation, and religious affiliation. For many
individuals, their religion is a centrally defining characteristic of who
they are, such that they would be nearly incapable of making ethical
decisions independently of their religious beliefs.
EARTH ETHICS

Earth Ethics
- Education needs an ethical orientation that can help it grapple
better with global environmental issues such as climate change and
decreasing biodiversity, something called earth ethics.

-Earth Ethics is the discernment of how to live in a relationship with

the living planet. The field of ethics deals with the distinction
between right and wrong, and the implications for how to live, as
individuals and collectives. Earth Ethics reminds us that we are
connected to the Earth and that our moral obligations extend across
space, time, and even species. (Center for Earth Ethics).

An Inconvenient Truth (Movie)

-Director Davis Guggenheim eloquently weaves the science of global
warming with former Vice President Al Gore’s personal history and lifelong
commitment to reversing the effects of global climate change in the most
talked-about documentary of the year. An audience and critical favorite, An
Inconvenient Truth makes the compelling case that global warming is real,
man-made, and its effects will be cataclysmic if we do not act now. Gore
presents a wide array of facts and information in a thoughtful and compelling
way: often humorous, frequently emotional, and always fascinating.
