1.The length of a square is 12 cm. A rectangle has the
same perimeter as the square. If the breadth of the
rectangle is 8 cm, find its length.

Ans: We know, The perimeter of the square = 4S

The length of the square= 12 cm
So, perimeter=(4X12) cm
= 48 cm
The perimeter of square = Perimeter of rectangle = 48 cm
Now, the perimeter of the rectangle = 2 (l+b)
48 = 2(l+8)
=> l+ 8 = 48
=> l+8 = 24
=> l =24- 8
so, l = 16
Ans: The length is 16 cm
2. The area of a rectangular garden is 140 m 2 and
length is 14 m. find its breadth and perimeter.
Ans: Given, area of the garden=140
m2 and length is 14 m.
We know, breadth= Area÷ length
= 140/ 14
= 10 m
The perimeter is =2 (l+b)
=( 2X 24) m
= 48 m
Ans The perimeter is 48 m
3. Calculate the area of a rectangle whose
length is 2.8 m and breadth is 19 dm.
Give the answer in m2 .
