SAFE USE OF LIFT


INTRODUCTION
• Lifts move people or goods vertically within buildings. They serve
low-cost/high-rise residences and commercial buildings, requiring
scheduled maintenance for optimal performance.
Introduction
• Objective:
Enhance safety awareness among telco members,
highlighting key measures for secure handling of electronic
and electrical equipment, ensuring a hazard-free workplace.

• Importance:
Protecting workers, equipment, and maintaining efficient
operations.
Hazards
Common Hazards:
• Electric shock: Contact with live electrical components.
• Fire Hazards: Overloading circuits or faulty equipment.
• Overheating.
• Cable and Wire Hazards: Tripping or entanglement.
• ESD (Electrostatic Discharge): It can damage electronic
components, circuits, and sensitive equipment.

• Best Practices:

• Always power down equipment before maintenance.


• Avoid overloading circuits.
• Keep liquids away from electronics.
• Regular equipment inspections.
• Use insulated tools specifically designed for electrical work
to minimize the risk of electric shock.
Emergency Responses
STEPS INSTRUCTION
Safety First Ensure your safety and the safety of others. Do
not put yourself in harm's way.
Shut Off Power If it's safe to do so, disconnect the power source
to prevent further accidents.

Call for Help Dial emergency services (e.g. 999) if the accident
(Working team members, Ambulance, is serious and requires medical attention or if
BOMBA) there’s uncontrolled fire.
Fire Control Use Fire extinguisher to control fires if safe to do
(Fire Extinguisher ,Emergency Alarm) so.
Evacuation Evacuate the area if necessary.
First Aid Provide immediate first aid to the minor effect.
This may include minor wound, applying pressure
to stop bleeding, or CPR while waiting for
medical help to arrive.
