0 UNIT 1 LESSON 1 SPEAKING TASK 1 1. Would you like to go to another country to study? 2. If no, why not? If yes, which country would you go to?
3. What do you like doing at home? What do your friends and
members of your family do? VOCABULARY 1. Tuition fee- money that a student pays to a university 2. Extra-curricular activities- not part of the usual school course 3. Curriculum- the subjects studied in a school 4. Lecture- a formal talk on a topic to group of people/ students 5. Research- it is a study a subject in detail to discover information 6. Faculty-people who teach in a university/ college or school 7. Degree – the qualification given to a student after he/she has completed his/her studies 8. Distance learning- a way of studying in which you do not attend a school but study from where you live 9. Tutor- a teacher who teaches a student outside of school to give extra help with a subject 10. Tutorial class- a period of study with a tutor and small group of students. POINTS TO CONSIDER WHEN ANSWERING THE QUESTIONS ABOUT SCHOOL. What do you like about the school? Is it popular school? Does it have high tuition fee or a reasonable one? Does it have a good curriculum? How about extra curricular activities? How about the faculty? Do they have relevant degrees? Is the degree you want available in that school? Are there available tutorial classes? Can you find good tutors? What about distance learning? SPEAKING: TALKING ABOUT YOUR DAY Spend 2 minutes thinking about what you could say and make some notes.
