WHAT DOES
“SHOPPING” MEANS?
The word "shopping" has its roots
in Middle English. It originally
comes from the Old English word
"sceoppian," meaning to trade or do
business. Over time, the term
evolved, and by the 17th century,
"shopping" specifically referred to
the activity of purchasing goods. The
concept further developed as
commercial spaces and markets
became more organized, leading to
the modern understanding of
shopping.
02
IN-STORE
SHOPPING
Traditional shopping refers to the conventional
method of purchasing goods or services in physical
stores. Customers visit brick-and-mortar locations
to browse, select, and purchase items. Traditional
shopping allows you to see the real product before
you pay for it. Using cash, one could purchase the
actual product that he or she desires. This is a
very important attribute for people who buy
fashion items such as clothes and shoes because
one must confirm and assure that the clothes or
shoes are of the correct color or size. This feature
of traditional shopping ensures that the
transaction is secure.

More than 60,000 over 80 ordered 2 million products on Black Friday on Friday,
November 10, 2023 at eMAG, 26% more than in 2022.
"The 13th edition of Black Friday breaks all records so far and
demonstrates the strength of online commerce to meet people's
expectations with very good deals, in a general context that puts
pressure on family budgets," says the eCommerce platform.”
"This year's Black Friday results exceeded all our expectations
and highlight the power of online commerce, which will
continue to increase in the years to come. First, there are many
more people coming online for their regular shopping - at this
year's edition, we have almost 50,000 more customers than last
year, who will continue to discover the benefits of online
shopping. Also, the huge interest is due to the very good and
extremely diverse offers, built together with Marketplace
merchants and prepared long in advance, which prove that
online you can find products for every budget and that there is
still a lot of room for growth," said Tudor Manea, CEO of
eMAG.

CONCLUSION
While traditional shopping has been the predominant method
for centuries, the rise of e-commerce and online shopping has
significantly changed the retail landscape. Many consumers now
opt for the convenience of online shopping, which offers a
different set of advantages, such as a broader product selection,
price comparisons, and the ability to shop from anywhere with
an internet connection. Despite this shift, traditional shopping
still holds appeal for those who value the immediate, hands-on
experience provided by physical stores.
