How many marbles are there in

2 mini bottles?
How about in 3? 4? 5? 6?
Reflect
So, We can conclude that Clarence
has 42 marbles in his 6 mini bottles.
C. Discussion
Word Problem 2:
Dan and Noli played darts. Dan
hit the target 10 times out of 15
throws. Noli hit the target 12 times
out of 18 throws.
How can we compare
the ratio of their hits?
Strategy 2. Content – Based
Instruction
ACTIVITY : 4A’s
ACTIVITY:
Let us do this problem.
ANALYSIS:
What is the ratio of Dan’s
number of hits to his throws?
Ans. 10:15
How about Noli’s hit to the number of
his throws? Ans. 12:18

Abstraction:
Are their ratios equal? Let us find
out.
Is 10 : 15 = 12 :18?
To find out if the two ratios are
equal, we will find if the product of their
extremes is equal to the product of their
extremes. The extremes are the first
number of the first ratio and the second
number of the second ratio. While the
means are the second number of the first
ratio and first number of the second ratio.
Extremes
10 : 15 = 12 :18

Means
Application:
Extremes = Means
Dan and Noli played darts. Dan
hit the target 10 times out of 15
throws. Noli hit the target 12 times
out of 18 throws.
How can we compare the ratio of their hits?
10: 18 = 15 :12
180 = 180
0r
Cross Product Rule
10x18=15x12
180=180
Their products are both 180. We can now say that:
10 :15 = 12 :18.
Are you
ready for a
group
activity?
What to
observe
during
group
Activity?
Group Activity
Group I. Write Fact if the pair of ratios
are equal and Bluff if they are not.
1. 7:3 = 1:3 = Bluff
2. 8:32 = 28:32 = Fact
3. 3:4 = 12:15 = Bluff
4. 3:4 = 6:9 = Bluff
5. 6:10 = 3:5 = Fact
Group II. Write the symbol (=)
if the given ratios are
equivalent, write (≠) if not.
1. Rose bought 11 colored pencils
for php121.00; Karen bought five
pencils for php25.00. =

2. For a newspaper drive, Henry is
able to keep 24 news papers in 8 days;
John was able to keep 27
newspapers in 9 days. = =
3. In a jeepney, a student paid php63.00
for 9 persons, while citizen paid
php21.00 for
3 persons. = =
4. Three kids ate 6 extra large burgers
while 9 adults ate 12 burgers of the
same kind . = ≠
5. In a basketball try out, Mark
scored 12 out 15 in his first attempt
while he got 16 out of 20 on his
second attempt.
= =
Group III. Identify the given
ratio by using cross product rule.
1. 50:1=100:2 = 100

2. 10:8= 15:12 = 120

3. 8:18= 4:9 = 72

4. 3:5= 6:10 = 30

5. 4:12=1:3 = 12
D. Application

Problem Solving:
1. Four melons cost
Php80.00, Mark bought 3 melons for
Php60.00.
4:80 = 3:60
= 4x60 80x3
240 = 240
2.) Loraine reduced the size
of rectangle to height of 2 inches and
a width of 1 inch. It was originally 24
in wide and 12 in tall.

= 2:1 = 24:12
2x12 1x24
24 = 24
E. Generalization

How do we know if two

ratio are equivalent?
To find out if the two ratios are
equal, we will find if the product of
their extremes is equal to the product
of their extremes. The extremes are
the first number of the first ratio and
the second number of the second
ratio. While the means are the
second number of the first ratio and
first number of the second ratio.
Congratulations!
Now, it’s your turn.
Do the activity by yourself.
IV. EVALUATION
Directions: Determine if the sets of ratios are
equal .Use cross products rule.

1). 3 : 4 = 12 : 16 = 48
12
2). 3 : 2 = 6 : 4 =
X 4x15=60
3). 4 : 5 = 13 : 15 =
5x13=65
36
4). 6 : 36 = 1 : 6 = 144
5). 9 : 2 = 72 : 16 =
V. ASSIGNMENT
DIRECTIONS: Solve for the missing
term to form0 equivalent ratios.
1) 23 = 𝑁21 4) 6 : 7 = 30 : N
2) 52 = 20𝑁 5) N : 11 = 15 : 55
3) 27 = 12𝑁
