GALAXY

What is a
galaxy?

A galaxy is a huge collection of

gas, dust and billions of stars
and their solar systems, all held
together by gravity.
Galaxies are huge and can
have billions of stars in them.
Where are We?
We live on a planet called Earth that is part of our solar system. Our solar system
is a small part of the Milky Way Galaxy (Spiral shape).
Milky way also have a supermassive black hole in the middle.
• When we look up at stars in the night sky , we are seeing
others stars in the milky way.
• There are many galaxies besides ours (approx 100 billion or
may be more than)
• The light that we see from galaxies comes from the stars
inside it.
• Galaxies may get too close and smash into each other.
