The Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) named
as these are quickly purchsed, low margin and
highly profitable for retailers and fastly
consumable.

The FMCG sector has a significant impact on the


environment and society. FMCG engulfs those basic
household products that are used in our daily lives
like stationary, food, soft drinks, toiletries, etc.

In India, FMCG sector is the fourth largest sector with


it market size worth of $180bn. Through this
presentation we will explore how Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR) can drive sustainability in the
FMCG sector.

 To investigate and analyse the significance of

behind CSR initiatives in FMCG companies

What is
CSR?
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a business
approach that aims to contribute to sustainable
development by delivering economic, social, and
environmental benefits for all stakeholders.

It involves taking responsibility for the impact of a


company's activities on customers, employees,
shareholders, communities, and the environment.

Previously CSR was inculcated just to be confined to


proper return of tax payable by the company.
Presently, it implies the company's turn to pay back
to the society for playing an important role in every
aspect of its growth.
JUSTIFICATION OF TOPIC- GAP ANALYSIS

Methodology of the
Research
I plan to make this study a mixed-method
research approach, combining both
qualitative and quantitative methods to
provide a comprehensive analysis of CSR in
the FMCG sector. This would involve-

• Data Collection:
- Qualitative: Studying in-depth interviews
of key stakeholders in FMCG companies to
gain insights into their CSR strategies and
motivations
- Quantitative: Surveys distributed to a
representative sample of FMCG
companies to collect data on the scope
and impact of CSR activities
• Data Analysis:
Qualitative data will be analysed thematically to identify recurring themes and
motivations for CSR initiatives. However, Quantitative data will be analysed using
statistical methods to assess the relationships between CSR practises and corporate
performance

• Case Study:
Multiple case studies of prominent FMCG companies will be conducted to provide
real world examples of effective CSR practises

• Literature Review:
A comprehensive review of existing literature on CSR in the FMCG sector to provide
a theoretical foundation for the research

• Ethical Considerations:
Ensuring the ethical treatment of research participants and handling sensitive
corporate information responsibly

Growing Consumer Awareness: Today's consumers are more
socially conscious and seek products from companies that
exhibit ethical and responsible practices. The FMCG sector,

have increasingly mandated CSR activities, making it
essential for FMCG companies to comply with legal
requirements and demonstrate their commitment to social
responsibility.

profitability. Understanding these impacts is crucial for FMCG

Sustainability- As concerns about climate change and environmental
sustainability grow, CSR initiatives related to eco friendly packaging,
reducing waste, and sustainable sourcing are becomin esential for
long term viability

the well being of society by supporting various social causes,
including education, healthcare, and environmental conservation

Supply chain relevancy- As FMCG companies often have complex


global supply chains, CSR practises addresses social issues related to
labour conditions, fair wages and sustainability, ensuring ethical
production and sourcing.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) can drive
sustainability in the Fast-Moving Consumer
Goods (FMCG) sector, leading to numerous
benefits for all stakeholders. While implementing
CSR practices in FMCG can be challenging,
