CONTINUED...
LESSON OBJECTIVE
SCO 2.1 Students will research the concept of belonging
from historical, cultural, and legal perspectives.
WHO ELSE HAS BEEN EXCLUDED IN
CANADA?
• We talked (briefly) about the history of the exclusion of Indigenous people, but
what other groups have been excluded over time?
• Do some research, and see what other groups you can identify that have been
excluded in Canada.
TODAY...
• Research your group’s assigned topic
• Make notes about the topic, and prepare to be able to summarize them in your own
words
• You should aim to identify:
– A date or a time period
– The main idea/event/theme of your topic
– What group of people this topic involves
– How the involved group was affected
– 2 pictures that are significant/relevant to the topic

Once you have taken down these notes, you should compile your information, and put it
onto the shared PowerPoint. Aim for about 2-3 slides including the pictures.
