Coordinate pairs
When we write a coordinate, for example,

(3, 5)

x-coordinate y-coordinate

the first number is called the x-coordinate and the second

number is the
called the y-coordinate.
y-coordinate.

Together, the x-coordinate and the y-coordinate are called a

coordinate pair.
Let us plot the following coordinate pairs
(2, 3), (2, 1), (2, –2), (2, 4), (2, 0) and (2, –3)

x=2
Let us plot the following coordinate pairs
(0, 1), (4, 1), (–2, 1), (2, 1), (1, 1) and (–3, 1)

y=1

Coordinates in all 4 quadrants
Eg write down the coordinates of A, B, C and D
F(0,4) A(3,4)

Eg Plot the coordinates:

D(-3,2)
E(4,1)
E(4,1)
F(0,4)

G(-2,-1)
G(-2,-1)
B(1,-2)
H(4,-4)
C(-5,-3)
H(4,-4)
