GOVERNMENT
Definition:
is a form of government in which the rulers
exercise authority without the consent of the
governed
a way of governing that values order and control
over personal freedom.
A government run by authoritarianism is usually
headed by a dictator.
Characterized by a high concentration of power in
the hand of a single authority or a small groups of
individuals
To retain power and keep control over people,
authoritarian governments frequently use widespread
censorship, control over the media and
communication channels, and monitoring.
These political structures can be one-party
governments, absolute monarchy, or dictatorships.

Single-Party States: A single political party
controls political power in a single-party state.
Elections, when held, are generally not free and
fair, and opposition parties are either illegal or
subject to strict rules.

Absolute Monarchies: systems of governance
known are those in which a single monarch, typically
a king or queen, has absolute power and is unaffected
by the constitution or legal system. The authority of
the monarch can be inherited and transferred within a
royal dynasty.

common tools used by dictatorships to stay in
