Boarding Schools vs.

Day
Schools
Introduction

Boarding schools and day schools are two different types of

educational institutions that offer quite different experiences.
While the day school allows students to return home
everyday, a boarding school has them live on campus for the
entire school year. So, here is why we think boarding school
is the better choice.
Pro Arguments
One major advantage is the way that these kind of schools raise the
chance of students getting into top Universities, like Harvard,
Oxford, Princeton etc. When admissions officers see that you`ve
completed a good boarding school, they can tell that you succeeded
in setting yourself apart from the rest. Furthermore, choosing a
boarding school demonstrates your commitment to pursuing a
more challenging education. It shows them the maturity level that
you`ve reached because of this school, which is exactly what these
universities are looking for.
An additional advantage is the friendships that are made
between students from all over the world. These international
connections will help students learn all about other cultures
and traditions, which will expand their cultural knowledge.
Besides, students will definetly learn lots of new languages,
being completly beneficial for them.
Another major advantage is the confidence building that students go
through, along with getting more independent. They will have to
complete their homework alone, wake up early in the morning without
any help, and take care of themselves. They won`t have their parents
nearby, to assist them whenever needed, so they will have to cope
with some issues on their own, which is incredibly favourable. This
will prepare them for the next stage in their life, when they start living
as adults.
Con Arguments
No school is perfect, so one disadvantage that you should consider
before committing, are the fees that come along with the great
education. Going to a boarding school can be very expensive, so this
could be a major drawback for some people. The price of attending a
school like this can get to 30.000 pounds per year, which is quite a
lot. Moreover, students will also have additional charges for
textbooks, extracurricular activities and many more.
Another negative aspect of boarding schools is the heartbreaking
separation from home and parents. It is known that many students
suffer homesickness frequently, particularly in the first few
months or weeks of school. Additionally, by not being an active
part of their life anymore, parents may feel detached from their
children upbringing which could bring them a lot of stress.
Conclusion

So, while boarding schools may not fit everyone`s needs, it

can offer many benefits. It will provide a great academic
environment, a sense of community, and for sure, personal
development, the students receiving essential life skills.
