CHONTALES de
Oaxaca
Chontal (del náhuatl chontalli), que significa
"extranjero" o "extraña". se ha usado la
denominación "tequistlatecos", para
diferenciarlos de los chontales de Tabasco.
Ellos se llaman a sí mismos Slijuala xanuc'.
Los hombres usan camisa y calzón de manta
blanca, sombrero de palma y huaraches. Las
mujeres usan generalmente blusa de percal y

de la Santísima Concepción, se prepara la
fiesta de la virgen de Juquila.
