SIMPLE PRESENT

DO – DOES and VERBS


AUXILIARIES: DO - DOES
 We use auxiliary forms when we ask a question in present.
Ex1: Do you play tennis?
Yes, I do. / No, I don´t.
Ex2: Does he like pizza?
Yes, he does. /No, he doesn´t.
WHEN TO USE THEM?
 In Simple present, each pronoun has its own auxiliary.

 Do I, you (sing), we, you (pl), they.


 Does she, he, it
ADDING “S” TO THE VERB.
 In simple present, we add an “S” to the verb ONLY in the case of
SHE, HE or IT.
 Ex: She sings beautifully.
He eats pizza.
It jumps all the time.
Sammy likes french food.

 Mary _________ the piano in a fantastic way. (play)
NEGATIVE FORM
 We use the auxiliaries Do not (Don´t) and Does not (Doesn´t) before
the verb.
 Ex: Peter doesn´t like cakes.
They don´t need a new TV.
Kate doesn´t understand the lesson.
Paul and Tom don´t watch series.
