PRAYER FROM THE

HEART
PSALM 119: 145 NIV
I call with all my heart; answer me, O Lord,
and I will obey your decrees
Introduction:
Jesus spoke a great deal about the heart.
The heart is the center and source of whole
inner life – thinking, feeling and willing.

God is concerned, primarily, about the

heart. The Lord wants us to have a healthy
heart not only spiritually but also
physically.
In 1 Samuel 16:7, “He said to
Samuel, ‘The Lord does not look at
the things people look at. People
look at the outward appearance,
but the Lord looks at the heart”

• When we pray, the Lord knows

the motive of our heart.
TWO BIBLE
CHARACTERS WHO
PRAYED FROM THE HEART
1. HANNAH

“And she was in bitterness

of soul, and prayed to the
LORD and wept in anguish”
1 Samuel 1:10
2. HEZEKIAH
“ Then he turned his face toward the
wall, and prayed to the LORD, saying,
“Remember now, O Lord, how I have
walked before you in truth and with
a loyal heart, and have done what
was good in Your sight. And Hezekiah
wept bitterly” 2 Kings 20: 2-3
1. PRAYER IS A RELATIONSHIP NOT
AN ACTIVITY
Praying consistently builds a
personal relationship with God that
allows Him to see our true inner self
- our HEART .
2. PRAYER CHANGES US
> As we draw closer to God, our
spirit changed within.
> We become an intercessor.
> The Holy Spirit reveals the
will of God through His
Scriptures
3. PRAYER REQUIRES SPIRITUAL
CONCENTRATION
• Spiritual concentration is essential
to effective prayer. It means to
recognize and to relate on how God
answers our prayer.
• It also means to be sensitive in His
instructions.
HINDRANCES TO PRAYER

1. Sin (Ps. 66:18)

2. Relationship to others (Matt.
5:23-24)
3. Ritual (Matt. 6:5-8)
4. Disobedience (Deut. 28:15)
Psalm 62:8
Trust in him at all
times, you people; pour
out your hearts to him,
for God is our refuge.
CONCLUSION
God answered our prayer in different ways
whether yes, no or not yet but whatever
answer you will receive, always be thankful.
God knows what’s best for you.
