THE SIMPLE PRESENT AND THE PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE
The simple present tense: we use the simple present tense
for habitual actions, habits, routines and frequency adverbs.
FOR EXAMPLE:
I drink coffee every day.
I always drink coffee at night.
FREQUENCY ADVERBS:
Always, almost always, usually, often, generally, sometimes,
occasionally, hardly ever, never
THE PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE
The present continuous: we use the present continuous to
describe actions in progress now or future plans.
FOR EXAMPLE:
I’m drinking water now.
I’m taking guitar lessons on Monday nights.
EXAMPLE:
I have one sister. NOT: I’m having one sister
I want a new jacket. I’m wanting a new jacket.
I need new shoes. I’m needing new shoes.
I like coffee. I’m liking coffee.
THE SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE: FREQUENCY ADVERBS
Frequency means: How many times? – cuantas veces or How
often? – que tan a menudo o con que frecuencia, we do
something.
