Symbolic Interactionism

It is a sociological framework that examines


how social meaning is constructed through
behavior, focusing on how people construct
their identities and behaviors through social
interaction.
GEORGE HERBERT MEAD

the University of Chicago. He believed
people can think and decide on their own in
situations, based on their perceptions and
definitions.
CHARLES HORTON COOLEY

Born in August 17,1864 he is an American


sociologist who developed the concept of
‘The Looking Glass Self’
HERBERT BLUMER

Born in 1900 and a student of Mead,


developed the theory of symbolic
interactionism, which claims that what people
gain from encounters which others affects
how they behave.

considered the most influential 20th-century

focusing on the study of social interactions in
