Medium-Range Weather Forecasting

- A forecast for a period extending from

about three days to seven days in advance;
there are no absolute limits to the period
embraced by the definition. Compare long-
range forecast, extended forecast.
Long-Range Weather Forecasting
-provide information about expected future
atmospheric and oceanic conditions, averaged
over periods of one to three months. Like the
medium and extended ranges, the long range
forecasts are produced by the IFS coupled ocean-
atmosphere model.
