Introduction
"Hello everyone,
I'm Anvi, and I'm excited to present my first math project today.
This presentation reflects my hard work over the past few weeks,
and I'm eager to share my discoveries with you.
My project is about Height (7H & 7C)
I used a dual bar chart to compare two sets of
data, 7H and 7C. In the next slide, I'll explain
that I found the average(mode,median,mean )
for each set and calculated the Interquartile
Range (IQR) to show how spread out the data
is. This helps us understand the data better.
I give credit to Excel :)
• Mean (Average): Add up all the numbers and divide by how many there are. It
gives you an idea of what's typical in your data.
• Median (Middle Value): Put the numbers in order and find the one in the middle.
If there are two, average them. It's the middle point of your data.
• Mode (Most Common Value): See which number appears the most. It's the one
that shows up most often.
• Interquartile Range (IQR): Find the middle 50% of your data by subtracting the
25th percentile (Q1) from the 75th percentile (Q3). It tells you how spread out
your data is in the middle.
7H: 129, 138, 140, 145, 150, 150, 153, 153, 154, 155, 155, 156, 156, 157.48, 158, 163, 140, 145, 146,
150, 152, 156, 159, 163
7C:140, 140, 142, 146, 150, 152, 152, 153, 155, 155, 160, 139, 148, 149, 149, 150, 151, 152, 155, 156,
158, 159, 160, 161
7H Data:
1. Mean (Average):
- Sum of values: 129 + 138 + 140 + 145 + 150 + 150 + 153 + 153 + 154 + 155 + 155 + 156 + 156 + 157.48 + 158 + 163 + 140 + 145 +
146 + 150 + 152 + 156 + 159 + 163 = 3707.48
- Number of values: 24
- Mean = Sum / Number of values = 3707.48 / 24 = 154.48 (rounded to two decimal places)
In summary, the 7H data generally has higher mean and IQR values, while the 7C data has a slightly higher median. Both datasets have the same
mode.
Conclusion
Analyzing the 7C and 7H data sets was both interesting and fulfilling. We had to do
some math calculations to find the average, middle value, most common value, and the
range between the middle values. By organizing the data and doing these calculations,
we learned more about how the data is spread out. It was cool to see that the most
common value was the same in both sets, but the average, middle value, and range were
a little different. This project showed us how math can help us understand and make
sense of data.
