KOREA
Korea is an East Asian Territory that is Divided into two
Seperate sovereign states, North Korea and South Korea.
Located on the Korean Peninsula, Korea of Korea is
usually called South Korea. Seoul is its Capital and
Largest City. North Korea. Pyongyang is Its Capital and
Largest City. North Korea has a Communist Government
while South Korea has a Government that is Strongly
anti-Communist. called their Country “Choson” meaning
“Land of the Morning Calm’’

SUJECH’ON
• Another Type of Korean Court Music is the Sujech’on It is one of the
Most Famous pieces of Banquet Music. It has a Slow Tempo and an
Irregular meter and the Main Melody is Played by the Piri (an Oboe
type instrument). It is Often claimed to be at least 1,300 Year Old,
which would Predate the First Compilation of Gregorian Chants.
SOG-AK
• Sog-Ak is the Folk Music of Korea, It
Expresses Happy Feelings and Narrrates
Common Life Experiences which makes it
Popular among the Ordinary People.

The Art of Korea is fascinating. Although it has been deeply
influenced by Chinese Art, the most productive
periods in terms of art as listed below, often do not
coincide between the two countries.

1. Goguryeo (Koguryo) was created by the
merging of five tribes in northern korea.
2. Baekje had only ocean access to China, and
maintained a strong connection via the seas to
South China.
3. Silla was the kingdom least affected by Chinese
culture and retained its tribal connections while still
presenting a strong central government.

According to Korean Legend, the creation of the Korean masks


began with a craftsman named Huh Chongkak (‘’Bachelor huh’’).
He is Depicted to be bend over his Carving,chiseling the wood into
a laughing mask. Legends say that he had been ordered by the gods
to create 12 different masks, and he was not to have any contact
with other people until he was finished.

Korean Pottery is the Objects made of clay and Hardened by


Heat: Earthenware, Stoneware, and Porcelain of Korea. the
influence of Chinese Pottery on Korean Pottery was so Great
that it is Difficult to Distinguish some Korean Wares from those
made in the northern provinces of China, Especially those Those
made during the contemporary Han to Tang period.

Chogori (jacket) has a strait shoulder line with no seam at the


shoulder but a curved cut on the underside of the sleeve. The length
of the chogori is very short, just barely covering the bustline. It is
tied with a half bow. Hanging from the long full skirt is a
traditional accessory called a norigae.
