Language Register
is the level of
formality with
which we
communicate.
Different situations
and people call for
different registers.
5 types of language
registers
1. Frozen register- is
printed language that
does not change and
found in published
works, historical and
religious documents.
Ex. frozen register:
For God so loved the
world that he gave
his one and only Son,
that whoever believes
in him shall not
perish but have
eternal life.
2. Formal register-
uses complete
sentences standard
for work, business
and academe. It
uses technical
vocabulary.
Ex. Formal register:
“This paper seeks to
explore the
perceptions and
instructional
practices of Filipino
teachers on learner-
centered
pedagogy…”
3.Consultative
register-is a two-
way participation of
speech standard
for work, business,
and academe.
