 SYNOPSIS
Act II begins the next morning. Biff
and Happy have already gone, and
Linda serves Willy breakfast. Biff
has gone to borrow money from Bill
Oliver so he can open the sporting
goods line.
Linda points out that the mortgage
will be paid in full after this month.
Willy reminisces about the house and
the work he put into it during the last
25 years. Willy is supposed to meet
biff and Happy at Frank's ChopHouse.
Willy dreams of growing
vegetables, moving to the country,
and building two guest houses for
the boys and their wives. Willy is
convinced that everything is getting
better.
Linda reminds Willy to request an
advance because there is not
enough money to pay bills. Willy's
mood changes, and he becomes
angry. He complains about the
Studebaker and the refrigerator.
Willy goes to the office with the
intention of asking Howard for a New
York position. Willy expresses his
desire to work in New York rather
than continue travelling. Howard
hesitates.
Howard remains impassive to Willy's
entreaties and instead informs Willy
that Wily can no longer work for the
company. Howard advises Willy to
appeal to Biff and Happy for financial
assistance.
Howard promised to give
Willy an in-town job if
possible. Willy begs Howard
for a job, but Howard insists
that a job is not available.
In an effort to convince
Howard, Willy resorts to old
memories of his glory days.
Howard's office disappears as
scene 3 shifts into the past. Ben
approaches Willy on his way to
Alaska. Willy asks Ben for
advise because things are not
going as planned.
Willy is convinced he and the
boys will become just as rich
and successful as Ben, even
though they remain in
Brooklyn.
Ben offers Willy a job overseeing
his timberland in Alaska, and Willy
accepts. Linda comes back and
scolds Ben for putting ideas of
Alaska in Willy's head.
She reminds Willy of his
promising future as a salesman, as
well as the successful Dave
Singleman. Willy attempts to
convince Ben that his job as a
salesman is just as remarkable as
working in Alaska.
 THEME

Living in denial to

reality
Howard knows that Willy has worked for
Wagner's father very diligently. He also
knows that he is an experienced salesman, but
desire for more profit forces him to show him
cold shoulder due to Willy's inability to make
more sales in a modern period.
Willy is incapable of accepting the fact that he
is a mediocre salesman. Instead of
acknowledging that he is not a well-known
success, Willy retreats into the past and
chooses to relive past memories and events in
which he is perceived as successful.
 SYMBOLISM

• There was a woman’s voice that lure Willy to a room. But the voice
was only heard by Willy started since he argued with his sons. As
Biff wanted to let his father sit on the table for dinner, Willy went to
the toilet.

• Biff, Happy and the 2 women talked on the table when Biff took out
a rolled-up hose from his pocket and put it on the table.

• Biff insisted Happy to help their father as he knew Happy could help
him.

• Biff stormed out of the restaurant and Happy with the ladies, chased
after him. Willy was left in the washroom.

 Summary

Biff’s conversation with Willy

-Biff failed his exam and didn’t get enough grades to

graduate.
-He asked his dad to talked to the teacher to give him
extra grades.

-Biff shocked to see a woman in his dad’s room.
-Willy console his son by saying that the women is just
a buyer for J.H Simmons.
-Biff in anger labeled his father as ‘phony little fake’.

- After the incident, all went to bed and Linda was
keep on calling Willy to sleep.

- Willy took suicide decision to help his son Biff by

passing him the insurance money. He crashed down
the car and died on the spot.

- The next day, everyone gathered in his funeral. But

there were only few people attended the funeral then
expected.
