EXAM OVERVIEW

SUBMISSION

• You have a 24hr window (approximately 8hrs working time)


• You’ll choose 2 questions to answer from 4 options
• The word limit: 2000 words
• Answers should be typed. You can write your answers directly on the exam paper, removing
the questions that you have not chosen.
• Submit a pdf version of the exam paper using the appropriate link on Canvas.

MARKING CRITERIA

• Knowledge and understanding- address the Q, use module content, include reflexive insights
• Application- Thorough and exhaustive application of theories to examples, clear links between
theory and example, compelling evidence, convincing argumentation
• Critical thinking- synthesize (connect, compare and contrast) theories covered in the module,
identify and critique assumptions
• Reading and research- engagement with assigned reading, well-scoped and chosen literature,
good command of terminology and frameworks, evidence of independent research
• Presentation style- clear sentences, correct grammar (spellcheck and proofread!), proper
citations
ADVICE

• Read assigned readings!


• No name-dropping.
• No attributing random ideas to authors.
• Don’t bring in more frameworks than you can do justice to.
• Properly apply the theoretical perspective. Don’t say ‘ this is relevant here’ and move onto the
next idea without explaining why and how.
• Try to find original examples.
• Learn to use a citation guide. Study it in detail.
