 1. Eros – Romantic, Passionate Love (Of The Body)


 2. Philia – Affectionate, Friendly Love
 3. Storge – Unconditional, Familial Love
 4. Agape – Selfless, Universal Love, Spiritual love
 5. Ludus – Playful, Flirtatious Love
 6. Pragma – Committed, Long-Lasting Love
 7. Philautia – Self Love
GOD’S LOVE (AGAPE)
 JOHN 3:16
 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life.

 (Psalm 36:5-7)
 Your unfailing love, O LORD, is as vast as the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. Your
righteousness is like the mighty mountains, Your justice like
the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O
LORD. How precious is Your unfailing love, O God! All
humanity finds shelter in the shadow of Your wings.
 See how very much our Father loves us, for He calls us His children, and that is
what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we
are God’s children because they don’t know Him. (1 John 3:1)

 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how
wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love
of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made
complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. (Ephesians
3:18-19)
 He has loved us with an everlasting love. (Jeremiah 31:3).

GOD’S LOVE IS ETERNAL, PERSONAL, AND UNFATHOMABLE!

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,


forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness and self-control. (Galatians 5:22)
CHARACTERISTICS OF
BIBLICAL LOVE (AGAPE)

(FAMILIAL, PLATONIC, ROMANTIC, GODLY)


1 Corinthians 13:4-5: Love is patient, love is kind. It
does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It does not dishonor others, it is not self-
seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no
record of wrongs.

1 Peter 4:8: Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a
multitude of sins.

Corinthians 13:13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the
greatest of these is love.

Romans 12:9: Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
LOVE IS 1. PATIENT
2. KIND
3. DOES NOT ENVY
4. DOES NOT BOAST
5. IS NOT PROUD
6. DOES NOT DISHONOR OTHERS
7. NOT SELF-SEEKING/SELFISH
8. NOT EASILY ANGERED
9. KEEPS NO RECORD OF RECORDS (EVER-FORGIVING)
LOVE IS JESUS CHRIST
because…
HE SACRIFICED HIMSELF FOR US
AND BORE THE WEIGHT OF THE
WORLD.
 HE BORE THE PAIN, SHAME, GUILT, AND SINS OF THE WORLD. ALL
PEOPLE. PERSONALLY AND COLLECTIVELY.
 HE HEALED THE SICK, FED THOUSANDS AND PREACHED AND
CONNECTED WITH THEM EVEN THOUGH HE WAS HUNGRY AND
EXHAUSTED.
 PAID FOR OUR RANSOM AND PRAYS AND INTERCEDES FOR US IN
FRONT OF THE FATHER IN HEAVEN.
HE WAS PATIENT WITH THE PEOPLE
AND HIS DISCIPLES.

 HE WAS WELCOMING AND KIND TO THE CHILDREN AND THOSE WHO


WANTED TO MEET HIM.
 HE WAS ACCEPTING TOWARDS THE FLAWS OF HIS DISCIPLES.
 HE APPROACHED THE DISCIPLES FIRST, AND WAS PATIENT WHEN IT
TOOK THEM A WHILE TO BELIEVE AND FOLLOW HIM.
 HE ACKNOWLWDGES THAT WE HUMANS ARE WEAK AND SINFUL,
THUS HE LETS US TAKE OUR TIME IN FULLY GETTING TO KNOW HIM,
DEPENDING ON HIM, BELIEVING IN HIM.
HE WAS AND IS COMPASSIONATE
AND KIND.
 HE WAS KIND AND GENTLE TO THE CHILDREN.
 HE CARED AND SPENT TIME WITH THE POOR.
 HE WAS COMPASSIONATE TO THE SINNERS. US.
 HE IS COMPASSIONATE TO US.
 HE PRAYS FOR, LOVES AND WANTS YOU AND ME TO BE SAVED MORE
THAN ANYONE ELSE IN THIS WORLD.
 HE WAS EMPATHETIC AND EVEN PRAYED FOR THE ONES WHO
CRUCIFIED HIM.
HE NEVER WAS, NEVER IS AND NEVER
WILL BE SELFISH OR UNFORGIVING.
 HE FORGAVE THOSE WHO SCORNED HIM. WHO NAILED HIM TO THE
CROSS.
 HE ASKS US TO FORGIVE THOSE WHO HAVE SINNED AGAINST US
BECAUSE NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES WE SIN, HE FORGIVES US EACH
AND EVERYTIME. WHICH IS WHY HE ASKS US TO DO THE SAME.
 HE WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO WAS SINLESS, THUS THE ONLY ONE WHO
WAS QUALIFIED TO THROW A STONE AT THE WOMAN WHO SINNED, BUT
HE DIDN’T.
 HE ALWAYS PUT OTHER’S NEEDS BEFORE HIS OWN. HE NEVER PUT
HIMSELF BEFORE OTHERS.
 HE WAS BORN IN A MANGER, NOT IN A CASTLE. AND HE PUT THE
SALVATION OF MILLIONS OF SINNERS BEFORE HIMSELF AND HIS
COMFORT IN HEAVEN JUST TO BE WITH YOU AND ME.
HE WAS- HE IS HUMBLE AND MEEK.

 HE IS REPRESENTED BY THE LAMB BECAUSE THE LAMB STAYS


SILENT EVEN WHEN BEING WOUNDED AND BITTEN BY WOLVES,
SNAKES, STONES.
 JUST LIKE THE LAMB, HE DOESN’T COMPLAIN.
 HE NEVER SAYS ANYTHING TO HURT ANYONE.
 HE NEVER DISHONORED ANYONE.
 THE LAMB WEEPS IN PAIN, BUT NEVER SHOUTS. HE IS GENTLE AND
HUMBLE EVEN WHEN IN PAIN.
God and His LOVE is eternal and
powerful because…

 “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor
rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor
powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all
creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God
in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39).
VERSES ABOUT FRIENDSHIP AND
LOVE FOR ANOTHER
 Matthew 18: 21-22 “Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, ‘Lord, how many times shall I
forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?’ Jesus answered, ‘I
tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.’”

Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Carefully consider what is right in the eyes of everybody.” – Romans 12:17

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.” – Proverbs 17:17
John 13:34
 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you,
so you must love one another.”

Proverbs 10:12
 “Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.”

 “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a
multitude of sins.”

Genesis 2:24:
Therefore a man shall leave his father and his
mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall
become one flesh.
Ephesians 5:33:

However, each one of you also must love his


wife as he loves himself, and the wife must
respect her husband.
About trust and faith in relationships.

VERSES ABOUT LOVE FOR FAMILY.

• “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in
the land that the Lord your God is giving you.” – Exodus 20:12

• “Bear with one another and, if one has a complaint against


another, forgive each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you
also must forgive.” – Colossians 3:13
• “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in
unity!” – Psalm 133:1

• “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the
womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the
children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with
them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his

VERSES ABOUT LOVE OF AND FOR
GOD.
 Exodus 20:5-6: “You shall not bow down to them or serve them,
for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of
the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of
those who hate Me, but showing steadfast love to thousands of
those who love Me and keep My commandments.”
 “God is love” (1 John 4:8). Carl F.H. Henry rightly
declares that love “is not accidental or incidental to
God; it is an essential revelation of the divine nature, a
fundamental and eternal perfection. His love, like all
other divine attributes, reflects the whole of his
being in specific actions and relationships” (see Carl
F.H. Henry,
God, Revelation and Authority, Volume VI: God Who Stands an
d Stays
, 341).
Proverbs 3:5-6
 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your
ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Psalm 56:3
 “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”
Isaiah 41:10
 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen
you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Hebrews 11:1
 “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect
unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one

BIBLE CHARACTERS WHO SHOWED LOVE.
 JESUS- NO NEED TO EXPLAIN
 JACOB FOR RACHEL Soon after his arrival in Harran, Jacob fell in love with the “beautiful and lovely” Rachel, daughter
of his cousin Laban (Genesis 29:17). HE LABORED AND WAITED FOR HER FOR 14 YEARS.

 RUTH AND NAOMI Ruth 1:16–17, Ruth tells Naomi, her Israelite mother-in-law, "Where you go I will go, and where you stay I
will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord
deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me."
 ISRAEL, FATHER OF JOSEPH Now Israel loved Joseph more than any of his other sons, because he had been born to him in
his old age; and he made a richly ornamented [1] robe for him. GENESIS 37:4

APPEAL

 SAY AND ACT “I LOVE YOU” TO YOUR FAMILY, TO YOUR


FRIENDS, TO YOUR SPOUSES, AND LAST BUT NOT THE
LEAST, ACKNOWLEDGE GOD’S LOVE AND LOVE HIM BACK
THROUGH OBEDIENCE.
