There are recommendations to integrate
Community Health Workers (CHWs) into community-
based efforts to prevent chronic diseases. The value
and impact of CHW in preventing and managing a
variety of chronic diseases including heart disease,
stroke, diabetes, and cancer has been shown.

*A community health worker is a member of a


community who is chosen by community members or
organizations to provide basic health and medical
care within their community, and is capable of
providing preventive, promotional and rehabilitation
care to that community.

● World Health Organizations
The World Health Organization is a specialized
agency of the United Nations responsible for
international public health. The WHO
Constitution, which establishes the agency's
governing structure and principles, states its
main objective as "the attainment by all
peoples of the highest possible level of health.
● Center for Disease Control and Prevention

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention


is a national public health institute in the
United States. It is a United States federal
agency, under the Department of Health and
Human Services.

Its main goal is to protect public health and


safety through the control and prevention of
disease, injury, and disability. It is one of the
thirteen major operating components of the
DOH and Human services. It is the nation’s
premier health promotion, prevention, and
preparedness agency and global leader in
public health.
● National Institute of Health (NIH)

NIH is the primary agency of the United


States government responsible for
biomedical and public health research.

Its mission is to seek fundamental


knowledge about the nature and
behavior of living system and the
application of that knowledge to
enhance health, lengthen life, and
reduce illness and disability
