Almeria is an arid region in Southern Spain. Since 1980 it has


developed the largest concentrations of greenhouses in the
world covering some 26,000 hectares. The greenhouses are
used to grow a variety of fruit and vegetables, supplying
countries such as the Uk with out of season tomoatoes,
lettuces, cucumber and peppers. Over 50 per cent of
Europe’s fruit and veg are grown here.
